You are probably looking for the infosec.exchange Mastodon instance

This host is mostly for my random stuff, and in little part acts like a well-intentioned placeholder for the typosquatted domain.

Discoverability and Archiving

Currently I'm using this host for saving the items from my own feeds to the Wayback Machine and provide in-links for search engines. I hate that I have to do this, but the non-sense ideology of Mastodon pretty much ruined the search feature for Fediverse as a whole, and this wasn't changed by the fact that they owned their mistake and implemented search eventually.

Yes, I (or anyone else) could do similar things with other peoples published feeds, regardless of the tantrum. No, you can't defederate this, because the process doesn't rely on an instance.

Gluttony Section for Search Engines

@filippo @mmu_man There was definitely a push to block Threads, which is by definition opting-out, but I think the principle is the same. I think if Bsky implemented AP, there would be a similar push, see:

@filippo "If a company did it we would call it false sense of security." - It's been pretty wild to see people (at infosec.exchange of all places) arguing against scrapers/search while simultaneously celebrating that every post is available via RSS...

TIL about #Firefox Focus:

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browsers/mobile/focus/

I've been using all my primary browsers in porn mode all the time, and this implementation seems like a reasonable compromise between usability and privacy.

@tubetime I just found this writeup about color codes, but when decoding your pictures I get totally different results:

https://www.instructables.com/From-Resistors-to-ICs-Color-Codes/

Am I color blind? o.O

Also my 8yo asks why color codes are a thing in the first place, esp. in case of components where there is plenty of surface area for alphanumeric markings?

@julupu Sorry for the scare! I used to just redirect to the legit domain, but I need proper search and engines won't index with a redirect...
